AILA 2010 Midyear Conference

"The Impact of Global Migration on Business Immigration Practice

Revolving Doors in U.S. Business Immigration: Beyond the Border and Back"

January 29, 2010 • Marriott Casamagna Resort & Spa • Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

As the economy has tightened and immigration has become more difficult to maneuver, many businesses are searching for options outside of the United States. As such, U.S. based practitioners have become creative in servicing their clients abroad so that they don't lose them as clients. This conference will explore the issues U.S. based practitioners face as clients encounter difficulties in their U.S. immigration matters beyond U.S. borders. We will hear from in-house counsel regarding the issues they encounter when employees leave the United States. The conference will also look at the different approaches to NAFTA by Mexican, Canadian and U.S. authorities. In addition, it will look at Canada as an option and provide unique perspectives on the ways in which sole practitioners, boutique firms and large firms can become global migration providers.
